I am an assistant professor in economics at the University of Groningen (NL) and research fellow at the Centre of Expertise In the LEAD (NL).
I consider myself a behavioural political economist. My research focuses on how the social, economic and political environment interacts with individual’s preferences, beliefs and behaviour. In one line of my research, I study questions related to political behaviour, identity and norms, and redistribution. In my research fellowship, I study the role of public leadership in citizen engagement and in effective governance of sustainability challenges. By asking societally relevant questions, I want to contribute to solving today’s complex problems.
I teach at the Bachelor-level and supervise Bachelor, Master and PhD students. I have defended my PhD thesis titled "A new political divide? Political ideology and its economic implications" in February 2019 at the University of Groningen.
